Our First Year Experience programs are designed to help incoming students maximize the first year by getting comfortable on campus, connecting with the university, and starting to think of Ohio State as home. Our programs begin the summer before autumn semester (Buckeye Book Community, FYE camp programs) and continue throughout the school year.

President's Convocation
President's Convocation is your official Ohio State welcome. On Monday of Welcome Week, some 7,000 freshmen and transfer students gather in historic St. John Arena to hear from top administrators, walk in their first college processional, and learn some of the university's history and traditions.

Buckeye Book Community
Each summer, the first-year class forms the Buckeye Book Community. Students get their reading assignments at orientation, read over the summer, and return to campus to hear the author and attend book discussions. Check out this year's book selection!

Distinguished Speaker Series
Each year FYE invites distinguished individuals—those who have risen to the highest levels of achievement in politics, activism, and the arts and sciences—to address the first-year class. Find out who's visiting campus this year.

Pre-enrollment Programs
Summer pre-enrollment programs are designed just for incoming first-year students. These trips and programs ease the transition to college by connecting you to peers and allowing you to find a place and passion at Ohio State—all while participating in fun and challenging activities.

Leadership Collaborative
The Leadership Collaborative is a year-long leadership development program that begins with a four-day leadership development conference held prior to autumn semester. Do you have what it takes to be a leader?

FYE Camp Programs
Jump-start your Ohio State experience with a unique outdoor program! Camp Buckeye and Buckeye Adventures gives you a chance to make new friends and valuable connections before autumn semester even begins.

Buckeyes Beyond Ohio
Buckeyes Beyond Ohio events are a series of programs for first-year students from out-of-state who are new to Buckeye Country. These events welcome you to your new home and help you connect with other new out-of-state students.

Scarlet Scramble
The Scarlet Scramble is a 24-hour campus and city scavenger hunt to take place on April 12-13 from 8 p.m. to 8 p.m. Clues will range from trivia about the history of our institution to action-based clues where teams compete against each other.

ALDPES
Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma are national honoraries for first-year students built around the traditions of academic excellence, leadership, service, and social events.
